Alan Dangour joined the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) in 2001 and is a Professor in Food and Nutrition for Global Health. He is a Registered Nutritionist (Public Health) with a background in biochemistry and biological anthropology, and is head of the Nutrition Group at LSHTM. Since 2009, Dangour’s research has explored the interactions between the environment, agriculture, nutrition and health. He was part of the interdisciplinary team that set up the Leverhulme Centre for Integrative Research on Agriculture and Health (LCIRAH) that conducts intersectoral research linking agriculture with health in low and middle-income country settings. Between 2012 and 2018, he led the intervention research pillar of the DFID-funded research consortium Leveraging Agriculture for Nutrition in South Asia (LANSA). Alan Dangour now leads the Sustainable and Healthy Food Systems (SHEFS) programme.
